Visualização gráfica de informação complexa

Images from Total Interaction

Graphical visualization of complex data
Computer scientist Magnus Rembold and designer Jürgen Späth from Projekttriangle Design Studio where in charge of illustrating a book called Total Interaction. Published by the Interaction Design Institute, Total Interaction focused on the subject of interaction in the world of man-machine communications.
The challenge faced by Rembold and Späth resulted from the need to incorporate complex data and translate it into accessible, visually intuitive graphics. To create a “second language”, so to speak, that would expand the comprehension of the written document by its readers.
The ending result, as you all can see, is both effective and stimulating. On the q&a section of the book’s website there’s a reference to the possibility of creating an online software tool that would allow for the visualization of written essays, converting them into the kind of visual graphics produced in Total Interaction. Unfortunately there’s no date announced for its release.

I was wondering how this kind of automated technology could be used to support the study of programmatic diagramming in architecture. Some sort of tool to process program variables as graphic schemes, dissecting different layers of information and processing them into visual data. “Auto-diagram”, so to speak. Or “Archi-diagram”, for mac fans - and also for more fertile theoretical innuendos. Am I making any sense here?

Images from Solar

Unrelated, but still on the issue of visual graphics, programmer/designer Robert Hodgin presents an interesting model called Solar, on his blog Flight404.com. It’s a testing platform for audio-synched visualizations, merging sound beat analysis with animated lyrics. You can see it playing to the sound of Goldfrapp’s Lovely Head and it’s really that impressive.

  1. Bom post,

  2. Gostei do artigo!
